Progress in York and North Yorkshire (PiYNY)
Progress in York and North Yorkshire provides an overview of the
economic, social and environmental situation in the York and North Yorkshire
sub-region. The report mirrors Progress in the Region which is produced by
Yorkshire Futures, the Regional Intelligence Network.

This
report provides a light touch update of Progress in
York
and
North Yorkshire
produced in March 2009 and focuses on the performance of the sub region
measured against a series of key indicators.
This work continues to be funded
by Yorkshire Futures and managed by the York and North Yorkshire Partnership
Unit on behalf of the York and North Yorkshire Data and Intelligence Partnership
(YNYDIP).
The
York and North Yorkshire Partnership Unit is also undertaking an initial
Economic Assessment for the sub region, prior to the preparation of a statutory
Economic Assessment for North Yorkshire and providing support for City of
York Council
. More comprehensive analysis of
the indicators contained in this report is included within the technical
assessment and will be available in the spring of 2010.
This
report is one of a suite of ‘Progress’ reports available across the region.
An overall ‘Progress’ is produced for the Yorkshire and Humber
region, one for the functional sub region of York and North Yorkshire and one
for each of the city regions of Leeds, Sheffield, and Hull and Humber Ports.
All reports are available to download from the Yorkshire
Futures website.

A full update of the report
is now published every three years. Progress
in York and North Yorkshire (March 2009) has recently been produced on
behalf of the York and North Yorkshire Data and Intelligence Partnership (YNYDIP).
This formed part of the Progress in the Region 2008 launch event report which
took place at the Royal Armouries in Leeds on the 20th March 2009. For the
first time the suite of Progress reports (for the region, sub-regions and city
regions) are all structured around the new Integrated Framework indicators which
replace the Advancing Together Indicators. More details are included in
the introduction chapter of the York and North Yorkshire report.

In 2008 a light
touch reviews are published with the aim to update and summarise how the sub
region is performing in between publications of the full document.

This is the third
edition of the full report, which up until 2006 was published on an annual
basis. The full report provides more detailed data for the sub region and covers
a wider range of indicators than the 2007 summary report but may not feature the
most up to data information.
