North Yorkshire Culture
The remit of North Yorkshire Culture is to champion the cultural sector and
improve the cultural offer of York and North Yorkshire.
Its key roles are to:

Promote
York and North Yorkshire as a cultural area at a regional, national and
international level

Provide
a focus for co-ordinating, planning and monitoring the cultural agenda
-
Develop
effective relationships with cultural stakeholders
-
Maximise
the potential for growth and economic development in North Yorkshire using
cultural and creative development opportunities, and maximise the resources
available for cultural development
-
As
cultural advisers to the Regional Cultural agencies, Development Agencies,
Government Offices and others as appropriate
Membership is drawn from
the 9 Local Authorities, the 2 national parks, and the Regional Cultural
Agencies.

Festivals
and Events: Optimising the
economic impact of current festivals through networking,
bespoke business development support, and joint marketing and
promotion. The work takes
account of the identified “New Rural Economy” priority

Landscapes: Creating
international heritage attractions through developing excellence and
building cultural quarters

Outdoor
Adventure: Maximising the
use of our locational assets through participation in adventure

Connecting
Culture through new media / ICT: Developing
new media as a cost-effective mechanism for cultural engagement.
The task is to set out a vision which will drive the development of
initiatives, especially the creation of authoritative local content

North Yorkshire Creative Industries Network:
Developing a strong network that will mainstream the creative
industries as a key economic driver within the county’s economy and
developing practical initiatives that will promote the creative industries
as one of the county’s key cultural and economic assets
